Meet The Scally Family

Chuck Scally, Jr.

PGA Teaching Golf Professional

I had a golf club in my hand almost from the time I was born. My father was a PGA teaching professional giving golf lessons for over 25 years and started Scally’s Golf Center in 1954. My family lived at that facility consisting of a driving range, 9 hole par 3 course, 9 hole pitch and putt course, 18 holes of miniature golf, and batting cages. The facility is still in operation today, and I live there with my family.

I have now been teaching golf for over 25 years. I love the experience of giving a golf lesson and seeing someone transform their swing through the use of tools and simple instruction. I have also coached and taught many students who have qualified for state and local championships and students who have gone on to play college golf. I have attended two PGA Coaching and Teaching Summits, attended Hank Haney’s Teach the Teacher School, have attended two levels of instructor training with Top 50 instructor Charlie King and have had lessons with Top 100 teachers David Leadbetter, Hank Haney and T.J. Tomasi. I am married to my wife Jill and we have three great children, Charlie, Maya, and Max.

Jill Finlan Scally,

LPGA Golf Teaching Professional

My parents introduced me to the game of golf at a very young age. I was lucky to be in a family that fostered a love of playing golf and learning.

My Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees have given me a high level of training in anatomy, biomechanics, and sensory-motor processing that I use to tie in to my knowledge of the golf swing. I love the experience of giving a golf lesson with a student and watching them develop their swing through the use of tools and simple instruction.

I am married to Chuck and we have three beautiful children,Charlie, Maya, and Max.

What People Say

“Jill worked with me explaining and showing me what I was doing wrong. She has made me more aware of what happens during my golf swing and to be aware of the flaws that tend to creep back in from time to time. She gives me easy drills to practice, but the biggest help is Jill getting me to visualize what I am doing wrong then visualize how to fix the problem. I owe any success that I have had with my golf game
to Jill Finlan Scally. I am once again enjoying the game of golf and owe Jill a huge THANK YOU.”

Sheryl Reismeyer

2013 & 2014 Pinecrest Women’s Club Champion

I have played golf for over 30 years and during that time I have taken lessons from several PGA professionals. About 6 years ago I was very discouraged with my golf game. I had lost distance, my drives were always in trouble, and my handicap had climbed to a 22. The game was not fun anymore. Jill Finlan Scally was giving golf lessons at Clarion Oaks Golf Club and I decided to call her to schedule a lesson. Jill was a huge help to me.”

“When I first started working with Chuck three years ago, my swing was complicated and inconsistent. Instead of breaking down my game and rebuilding it, Chuck focused on simple and highly attainable goals. I’ve become more confident and capable of making corrections on my own. There’s no guarantee that I’ll play my best every time out, but Chuck’s coaching has helped me understand what my best looks like and how to get there”

Mark Horner

“There is no question golf is challenging; but the more you improve, the more you like the game. Over the past fifteen years, Jill has helped me to love the game! Her passionate, professional, and patient approach to teaching has greatly influenced my fundamentals. She has a unique talent to individualize my needs based on my strengths and weaknesses. She focuses on drills that are easy for me to understand and accomplish. During the time I have worked with her, my handicap has dropped to a 12. I also just had my first hole in one! I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to better their game. In fact, my husband, son, and daughter all take lessons from Jill. I feel fortunate to call Jill my golf professional and my friend.”

the academy difference

The underlying philosophy of Golf Channel Academy—which all of our coaches reinforce—is that good coaching takes place over a period of time, not just one lesson. The relationship between coach and student is more than just “one and done.” This is how “teaching” becomes “coaching,” which we describe as an on-going relationship devoted to long-lasting improvement. Everything about Golf Channel Academy is devoted to enhancing the “coaching” experience for both teacher and student.
